Lashley signs MMA contract, notes on pro wrestling future

Bobby Lashley signed a multi-year contract with Strikeforce today, and will debut for the promotion on 1/30 at the show in Sunrise, FL, which also features the debut of Herschel Walker. The event airs live on Showtime.

Strikeforce president Scott Coker confirmed the contract is a non-exclusive deal, and allows Lashley to continue his wrestling career with TNA.

Lashley has been both on-and-off in negotiations with the promotion since early in the year.

The multi-year deal means that unless Lashley does not do well and is cut, he will not be fighting in UFC for some time to come. It would also close the door regarding Lashley returning to WWE, which would not sign someone with an outside existing contract with another organization, even in a different form of entertainment.

He turned down an opportunity to fight Fedor in August (for the Affliction show that was supposed to have Barnett-Fedor) citing wanting more experience before he fights the greatest MMA heavyweight in history, so I wonder how long it will take to fight him? He's not a guy you want to go in without lots of experience.

I doubt UFC would want to run Lesnar-Lashley anyway. They're very pro wrestling-phobic and two wrestlers would be too much. Plus they refuse to let anybody pro wrestle while they fight..

Bigfoot Silva is an option. Supposedly he has awesome Jiu Jitsu according to a few people so Werdum could be a interesting match up. And there's always Arlovski and Rogers so he should be interesting until he's ready for the man the myth the legend Fedor Emelianenko.
