And they reproduced. A lot.

The spots in the foreground are, in fact, baby snails. I'm going to have to cull them eventually. I haven't decided yet how to tell which snails are the strongest and fittest to live.

Dude we can't even get aquarium snails on this side of the country. They were banned because idiots were releasing them into the wild and fucking the ecosystem.

Nothing cleans algae better :<

I have one of those big black algae eaters. It seems to work pretty good. But yeah, those snails do reproduce like bunnies.

These are from only one egg sac. About a week after they laid the first batch, they laid a second one. I scraped that one off.

There was another egg sac I didn't know about which must have hatched last night. Once one or two snails reach adult size, I think I'm going to have to pull the fish out and sterilize the whole thing: drain it, boil the gravel, scrub down the inside. Nuke it from orbit, as it were. Then afterwards, keep it at 72 degrees (snails do their best fucking at 80)

The funny part is that everything I've read says that these things are supposedly really hard to breed. They want you to have a whole separate breeder tank and you're supposed to feed them 3 times a day. I'm not doing any of that, plus I've got other fish in there and I've still got more than I can handle (hence my plans for gastropod genocide Laughing

)
