So. Futurama is less than a month away.

And people (especially Roofus) are beginning to wonder when I'll rip into it,
So here are some photos of what I've done to get the show back.. Considering they attribute its comeback in part to dvd sales. I certainly did my part:

As you'll see there are many doubles, triples, and a quad Laughing

My original boxes of season 1-4 were all purchased retail (the second season 1 box was got cheap on ebay) with a disc from season 1 and 2 signed by fry himself Billy West.
All 4 movies were purchased at store opening on release day. Now I got ripped off on one, but I spent the best part of 2 years hunting the limited benders big score to go with the other 3 limited ones I had.
The game and the monster robot maniac fun collection were also purchased new at retail as soon as i found them.
I got the playing cards at the same expo I met Billy West.. And I went to that expo for that purpose alone. (Phil Lamarr was supposed to come last year, but had work on futurama, so without someone from futurama I skipped it).
And finally in that photo, you'll notice there is the complete collection 1999-2009 and the collected epics, I got the complete collection for $170 so I could stop using my signed boxes and limited movies.
And got the collected epics as well because i figured it would be the closest season 5 (the movies) would get to a real season box.
So, on to the multiples tally:
4 copies of benders big score (3 purchased retail)
3 copies of the other 3 movies (all purchased retail)
3 copies of season 1 (2 purchased retail)
2 copies of season 2-4 (all retail)

well, I'd like to say it ends there but.. No

Here's my toys:

Zoidberg, Leela and the standard Bender were all retail aquisitions. I've asked a friend to get me Fry cause I'm officially broke now.
And the 2 limited benders (gold one 480 peice, and silver 1500 peice) were from a futurama collector from perth on ebay who needed quick cash and went to the san diego comic con in 07.
I've assured him they'll be in good hands.

BUT WAIT, THERES MORE:

Thats every single comic book I've ever bought. And all of them happen to be futurama, dating back to before I got my first dvd, futurama season 1 (and i don't mean first futurama dvd.. i mean first dvd)

So in 11 years I've spent about $1,700 on futurama related stuff.
And that doesn't count what I've spent on dvds, toys, calenders, cards, and comics for other people or on net bandwidth downloading stuff so I didn't have to wait to see it.
(note: my photobucket which i've had for years is futuramalover.. as was futuramalover@hotmail.com, and futuramalover@gmail.com till i let them lapse due to lack of use Laughing

Also, just for good measure:

There's me and Billy West in october 2007.
Thats sort of how he smiles for photos, but made it more chessy for me upon my request "pretend to look interested" which got laughs from the others lining up for photos Laughing

Its fans like me, the ones who aren't afraid to pay up, that have brought the show back into production twice.

Anyone else care to post their futurama stuff?

Anyone got more than me? if so: COOL!! if not: shut up and i'll judge the new season as i have every other episode, on a laughs per minute basis

my favorite futurama writer is lewis morton followed very closely by ken keeler, keeler is the go to guy when the series has to end..

also this, some of you may remember that planet express building made out of kids building bricks (cheap imitation lego) from a couple of years back.. well the set is finished now

also coming is diedrich bader. who played lawrence in office space.

I'm aware of the mixed reactions and they are all taken seriously by
the writers and producers.I also know that the people that love Futurama
the most (the REAL hard-core fans) have problems with it if it veers of
course in any way and it keeps everybody honest.When I was a younger
television viewer I was very fragile when I felt like someone had f**ked
with my favorite show because I LOVED it more than anyone possibly
could.There were clunker episodes and gags but it was still my show and
I still loved the stuff about it that resonated with me.
All the criticism is very welcome so I don't get reactionary if someone
doesn't dig certain things.NONE of us do.We know who brought the show
back.

RRRRen and SSSStimpy was a show that people loved.
When it was "brought back" it totally betrayed most of it's original
premise and the audience felt betrayed.They made their complaints
known.
So the uppity defensive spokes-person for the show would tell people,"if
you don't like it,then why do you watch?"
Or crap like, "well you clearly don't get the show so---it's real simple.
Don't watch!" "So you ordered a milkshake and got a steak instead."
"Oh,boo-hoo! Why are you complaining? Stop watching."

It takes a person with a COUNTERFEIT HEART heart to say that to the fans
that loved the show and were trying to help.......to F-off!
That was the stupidest thing the guy could've ever said
because they took this idiot's pompous advice and stopped watching.
The show that NO ONE watched was vaporized immediately.QED.

As I look back at the history of Futurama, there were clunker plots here
and there and gags that fell flat in all the seasons gone by.It is a
TREMENDOUS undertaking to put something like this on and please every
single person.But I do believe the negative comments also come from a
place of great love and respect.

We're all in it together and the object of any artistic endeavor should be
to do better always.And that's what we'll do.
